Zia Software and Engineering is a software sales and consulting company specializing in the solution of real-world engineering design problems. We offer software solutions that represent the state-of-the-art in stable, reliable and efficient algorithms for the solution of complex optimization problems. Our consultants have experience in engineering design, as well as knowledge of optimization theory that is well suited to the solution of these problems. We offer consulting for problem formulation tailored to our clients' specific needs as well as training in the use of our products for full incorporation into their design process.
The core of our optimization software is NOMAD, an object-oriented implementation of the algorithms developed by our strategic partners, Dr. John E. Dennis Jr. of Rice University and Dr. Charles Audet of École Polytechnique, Montreal. NOMAD provides an engine for identifying and refining improved, functional designs. Traditional designs can benefit by finding new ways to reduce production costs, while preliminary designs can benefit from early identification of the most important elements of the design. The algorithms in NOMAD have been developed in cooperation with industry with the goal of producing software that is suited to optimization problems that are not solvable using more traditional methods. NOMAD has been successfully used in the design of many diverse engineering and scientific systems, demonstrating that it is a widely valuable tool for the industry.
